The University of Essex Choir has developed a reputation as one of the finest large ensembles in East Anglia. We sing with top soloists and orchestras in world famous venues such as Snape Maltings Concert Hall. New members are very welcome – you don’t need to be a member of staff or student at the University. Our singers are from all walks of life; musical novices to experienced singers, some still at school, others working or retired.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions the choir has been rehearsing online via Zoom since autumn 2020. We resume these Zoom rehearsals on April 15th with a delightful programme of European partsongs and madrigals – just perfect for welcoming the summer.
With the gradual easing of COVID restrictions we anticipate in-person rehearsals after the 21st June and hope to be able to perform outdoors on campus in July.
If you are thinking about getting back to singing or would like to try out a choir, then why not join us for our online rehearsals and sing in the comfort of your own home?
If you are new to the choir please register your interest by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
How do rehearsals work on Zoom? We will send you a link to the online rehearsal along with a PDF attachment for the music we will be singing. Ben, our Musical Director will lead the rehearsal and will not be able to hear any individual voices during the Zoom rehearsal.
For the summer term we will be singing a selection of partsongs and madrigals.
Be exceptional. Come and join us!
